Overview
The use of electric heating elements in solar water heating systems should be minimised. The EcoSolar range of "One Shot" element controllers allow the user to manage the use of the electric element, ensuring there is sufficient hot water whilst minimising the use of the electric element and maximising the potential of solar water heating.

The 4 way "One Shot" controller will heat the water and automatically turn off the heating once the water is up to temperature, the user does not need to turn it off. The over-ride switch on the “One Shot” controller turns on and keeps on the electric elements. Under normal use the boost operation should suffice, however, if there is significant hot water usage the user may want to consider using the over-ride button. In cylinders with multiple elements, with the “One Shot” connected to the top element, using the boost feature will heat only the top portion of the cylinder, which may be sufficient for normal usage. Using the over-ride feature will maintain the water in the top of the cylinder at the set point temperature, however this will consume significant energy and savings will be reduced.
This "One Shot" controller is supplied with the face plate, switches and wiring diagram. The wiring and relays are not included.
The 4 way "One Shot" controller controls one electrric element as per the 3 way "One Shot" but includes an isolator for the solar controller and an on/off button to prevent a timer (such as included in hte UVR67 controller) from turning on the element either during times of lots of sunshine or when the user is away from home and doesn't want the element switching on.
